描述.This open access book presents contributions to decolonize development studies. It seeks to promote and sustain new forms of solidarity and conviviality that work towards achieving social justice.Recognising global poverty and inequalities as historic injustices, the book addresses how these can be challenged through teaching, research, and engagement in policy and practice, and the sorts of political barriers these might encounter. From a variety of perspectives and contexts, these chapters examine how decoloniality and solidarity can be developed, offering in-depth historical, theoretical, epistemological, and empirical analyses..

South-South Cooperation and Decolonialityoperation (SSC) reflects, practices or achieves decoloniality in its normative imaginaries and languages, practices, relationalities, knowledge politics and power matrices. By SSC I refer to ‘official’, state-led institutions, policies and practices, which may enrol, fund and partner with the private sector and other civil society actors.

What Is ‘Development’ and Can We ‘Decolonise’ It? Some Ontological and Epistemological Reflectionsese critiques to highlight the ontological tensions of ‘development’ in its discourse and practice. Do we as ‘development’ researchers need to reflect on our role in the persistent ahistoricity, and the resultant artificial North-South binaries, of our discipline? Are ‘development’ researchers part of the problem?

In Search of Alternatives to Development: Learning from Grounded Initiatives, llenge the fundamental structures causing inequality, un sustainability and injustice. Much more structural transformations in practice and worldviews are needed, many examples of which already exist to point towards pathways out of multiple crises.
