描述During the last few years cavity-optomechanics has emerged as a new field of research. This highly interdisciplinary field studies the interaction between micro and nano mechanical systems and light. Possible applications range from novel high-bandwidth mechanical sensing devices through the generation of squeezed optical or mechanical states to even tests of quantum theory itself. This is one of the first books in this relatively young field. It is aimed at scientists, engineers and students who want to obtain a concise introduction to the state of the art in the field of cavity optomechanics. It is valuable to researchers in nano science, quantum optics, quantum information, gravitational wave detection and other cutting edge fields. Possible applications include biological sensing, frequency comb applications, silicon photonics etc. The technical content will be accessible to those who have familiarity with basic undergraduate physics.

Suspended Mirrors: From Test Masses to Micromechanics, increased the capability to exploit radiation-pressure effects on such structures. This chapter summarizes the current state-of-the-art in the performance of suspended (micro-)mirrors for cavity optomechanics experiments in terms of their optical and mechanical quality, and highlights some of the m

Mechanical Resonators in the Middle of an Optical Cavity,on of solid objects to novel engineering concepts for sensing and optical devices. This interest was originally inspired by experimental geometries in which a mechanically compliant object acts as the back mirror of Fabry-Perot cavity. In order to maintain a stable, high-finesse cavity with this geo

Cavity Optomechanics with Whispering-Gallery-Mode Microresonators, xhibit co-localised mechanical modes coupled via radiation pressure to the WGM enabled dynamical backaction physics and a variety of other optomechanical phenomena to be observed and explored in an experimental setting. Here we provide a succinct introduction to cavity optomechanics with WGM resonat

Introduction to Microwave Cavity Optomechanics, part of that introduction, I will provide: a review of the field’s development, a discussion of its relationship to “optical” cavity optomechanics, and a description of its current progress. In addition, I derive in pedagogical detail the classical dynamics of a mechanical oscillator parametrically
