David Branco Viana,Beatriz Brito Oliveirae oxidases are able to produce hydrogen peroxide in O.-mediated oxidation of the corresponding substrate [1]. In order to control the hydrogen peroxide level in these sub-cellular compartments, catalase is present and catalyzes the H.O. dismutation in water and dioxygen at a rate of 10. cycles/second [2].

However, before doing so it seems appropriate to summarize some general physico-chemical features of hydrogen peroxide.
