The Problem of Private Validity,indignations and enthusiasms. Instead we would simply be giving up, losing interest in standards altogether, dropping the whole business of pro and con, indignation and enthusiasm. Nothing would have been created.

And these interactions are only possible where there is some measure of agreement on basic patterns, patterns that are provided partly by universal natural tendencies and partly by each particular culture.
