Nonlinear Physics and Synergetics,vation of amplitude equations is discussed that allow for the description of systems in amplitude spaces. The chapter introduces the order parameter concept of synergetics and discusses why unstable eigenvectors of fixed points are order parameters.

It is discussed that reproduction numbers can be regarded as bifurcation parameters that determine the stability of disease-free fixed points.
