An Exceptional Twelfth-Century Tile Floor, Its Origins and the Network Behind It: Compositional AnaScandinavian parallels, and the nearest comparable examples are found in twelfth-century churches in the Rhineland area of Western Germany. Compositional analysis indicates that the Roskilde St. Lawrence mosaic tiles were not produced locally, and it is suggested that they were imported from Western Germany.

Prague and the Prague Castle Under the First Habsburgs,e Castle are an ideal example. The fragmented late medieval buildings were transformed into an early modern form. This process was completed in the mid-seventeenth century. Contributing to the establishment of Mannerism were Dutch artists and scientists, many of whom were active at the imperial court of Rudolf II.

Architectural Traditions of Pre-Romanesque Central Plan Churches in Bohemia Within Central Europeane spread over Central Europe by missionary activities from the Eastern Frankish Empire as part of Charlemagne’s political program. The choice of a central plan form for an individual church building resulted mostly from functional demands. The final design was a fusion of imported knowledge and local styles and possibilities.

Convex Bodies of Constant Widthn gained control of the Church and its properties. The income this brought made it possible for the Crown to erect new palaces using brick. This, in turn, encouraged the nobles and some burghers to also invest in new brick buildings which feature the influences of Dutch and sometimes Italian Renaissance styles.
