It is demonstrated that due to the presence of the ambient nonstationary flow field, the effect of the bubble’s self-propulsion is significantly enhanced. In a cloud of bubbles undergoing only volume deformations (but otherwise being at rest), the phenomenon of bubble coalescence is also more pronounced.

In some combination of conditions, no bubble migration takes place, in which case bubble splitting may occur.
