Prelude: Etaples, Winter 1916–1918rs, held together by tiebeams [24]. Increasing the slope of the main rafters by shortening the tiebeams elevates the truss and makes it more concave. Thus pes cavus represents an exaggeration of normal plantar concavity, where the anterior and posterior weight-bearing areas of the foot are brought closer together [9].

Prelude: Etaples, Winter 1916–1918st metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP). Their pathologic aspects are often unrecognized clinically or radiologically. During antiquity, they were supposed to be the starting-point for resurrection at the Last Judgment because of their great strength [13]. Other myths depicted them as the “seat of the soul” [11].

In Search of a New Left, Then and Now,Sectional imaging, first by computed tomography (CT) and more recently by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has proved to be of major importance in diagnostic evaluation of different foot pathologies. The origin of this slice imaging was the conventional tomogram, the indications for which have now almost disappeared.

In Search of a New Left, Then and Now,Scintigraphy is a non-invasive, functional method of imaging. It provides early information and is highly sensitive. Thus, it can give fundamental diagnostic or prognostic information in various foot disorders [8].
