The yield on PHA produced by activated sludge submitted to these dynamic conditions reach values comparable to those obtained .by the pure cultures, being the first process less cost intensive than the last one. The chain length of the polymer produced in both processes is similar.

An Original Method of Esterification of Cellulose and Starchsalts (soap) were used as both catalyst and emulsifying agent. Reaction conditions were optimized using an experimental design. Starch and cellulose octanoates were obtained having a DS of 0.52 and 0.23 with a recuperation yield of 70 and 85 %, respectively. Both polysaccharide esters showed a marked hydrophobic character.

Leadership in turbulenten Zeitens for improvement of existing and development of future fermentation processes. A strong dependence of the molecular weight distribution of the polymer on the main carbon source used in the fermentation was also found.
