We conclude with a discussion on the main challenge of the biomimetic design process: bridging the gap between biology and technology.

We point a lacuna of transfer methods and conclude with our research target: develop a biomimetic design method for innovation and sustainability based on these research gaps.

Functional Patternsgineering functional ontologies and concluded that the Su-Field function ontology is an efficient generalization of system function ontologies. The results have implications for the field of functional modeling in general, and especially for the field of interdisciplinary design, such as biomimetic design.
