Quantal neural mechanisms underlying movement execution and motor learning,operties of this motor system is presented. Lid movements seem to be generated by a ≈ 20 Hz oscillator in close relationship with central neural processes involved in attentive states. A quantal organization of this motor system is revealed mostly when considering the sensory-motor strategies related to the generation of new motor responses.

Mechanisms of synchronization in the hippocampus and its role along development,play a critical role in the reinforcement of the connectivity patterns. The purpose of this work is to investigate such synchronizing mechanism in the newborn hippocampus. We show that immature hippocampal CA3 and CA1 cells burst synchronously and discuss its implications in the operation of the implicated neural networks.

Some reflections on the relationships between neuroscience and computation,his paper a summary of our work that has been marked by two recurrent themes: (i) ., with the introduction of distinct levels and domain of description (ii) . seeking new ideas for a more realistic model of neural computation. The final purpose is to move computation a step closer to neuroscience and vice versa.

Here, we present some evidence of specific molecular changes brought about by gonadal steroids on a simple neuroendocrine transducer, the pineal gland.

Symmetry and self-organization of the oculomotor neural integrator,uring development of symmetrically connected clusters of neurons. This method is neurobiologically plausible and robust, and networks designed using it reproduce the dynamics observed for brainstem neurons that are part of the actual oculomotor neural integrator.
