影响因子This book contains the 61 papers that were accepted for presenta­ tion at the 1992 British Machine Vision Conference. Together they provide a snapshot of current machine vision research throughout the UK in 24 different institutions. There are also several papers from vision groups in the rest of Europe, North America and Australia. At the start of the book is an invited paper from the first keynote speaker, Robert Haralick. The quality of papers submitted to the conference was very high and the programme committee had a hard task selecting around half for presentation at the meeting and inclusion in these proceedings. It is a positive feature of the annual BMV A conference that the entire process from the submission deadline through to the conference itself and publication of the proceedings is completed in under 5 months. My thanks to members of the programme committee for their essential contribution to the success of the conference and to Roger Boyle, Charlie Brown, Nick Efford and Sue Nemes for their excellent local organisation and administration of the conference at the University of Leeds.

Robust Recovery of 3D Ellipse Data,s is used in conjunction with an appropriate disparity grouping constraint (in the case of ellipse hypotheses we use an affine disparity plane constraint) to recover more accurate 3D scene descriptors.

Planar Region Detection and Motion Recovery,of other points assuming they lie on the same plane as the original four. A distance threshold between actual and predicted position is used to find extended planar regions. If two distinct planar regions can be found then a novel motion direction estimator suggests itself.

On Evidence Assessment for Model-Based Recognition,ed on: (i) evidence against coincidental configuration of random image features and (ii) evidence against mis-recognition of other objects. We demonstrate this scheme for model based 3D recognition from 2D image features.

The Delaunay/Voronoi Selection Graph: a Method for Extracting Shape Information from 2-D Dot-Patterquent processing, generates a hierarchical description of the topology of individual objects. We compare the DVSG to other methods used for obtaining information from dot-patterns, and show how this technique can be extended to 3-D.
