Structure And Interaction Of Asphaltene Colloids In Organic Solvents,. The results suggest that the asphaltene colloids are approximately spherical, but with an appreciable size polydispersity. For the moderate to high concentration range, the Derjaguin-Landau-Verway-Overbeek (DLVO) potential was used to describe the interparticle interactions, and found to be adequate.

Conference proceedings 19841st editionts. Results demonstrated that the activation energies are typical of association/dissociation energies for individual asphaltene sheets rather than diffusion activation energies. A Schultz type distribution of the asphaltene molecular weight and a scaling relationship between diffusivity and molecular weight were observed.

Chemical Aspects Of Environmentally Processed Asphalt,mended that the use of monovalent salts and high ionic strength solutions in asphalt cements is avoided because the decrease in chemical stability of the asphalt cement due to disruption of the functional group-aggregate bonds resulting increase in overall permeability.

Surface Activity And Dynamics Of Asphaltenes,he micellization and dissociation kinetics are considerably slower than surfactant systems. This study provides solid evidence that asphaltenes are surfactant-like molecules, unlike the previously hypothesized concept that maltenes are the only surfactant-like component in petroleum.
