The West African Fertilizer Management and Evaluation Network (WAFMEN) provides such a framework for promoting fertilizer use efficiency in West Africa.

Overcoming soil fertility constraints to crop production in West Africa: Impact of traditional and e existing body of knowledge and identify and adapt possible solutions to overcome specific constraints. In this respect, farmer participation in the design and conduct of such on-farm tests is invaluable.

Vincent S. L. Cheung,Howard C. Luongate of 7.5 kg/ha also benefitted the maize crop. Point placement of nitrogen fertilizers enhanced the loss of N. Fifty percent (50%) partially acidulated phosphate rock was as efficient as commercial superphosphates. At Farako-ba plants responded to phosphate rock applied at the rate of 13.2 kg P/ha.

Design and Power Considerations,d and incorporated outperformed that which was broadcast and left on the soil surface. Tilemsi phosphate rock from Mali was agronomically as effective as commercial superphosphates in terms of both direct effects and residual effects thereby confirming the place of this phosphate rock as one of West Africa’s best for direct application.

B. Milner,V. Rapoport,L. Yevenkoas commercial superphosphate. Preliminary results from nutrient interaction experiments suggest that efficiency of fertilizers can be improved by ensuring appropriate balance of nutrients applied to the soil.
