Theorising Aesthetic Literacies in Educational Research,re core aspects of aesthetic experiences, both intrinsically and extrinsically. Concepts such as ecologies of practice and the intriguing German term umwelt will all be explored. It is hoped the chapter will inform future research for graduate students and other researchers in the field.

Kim B. Ritchie,Garriet W. Smithcourse are included in this chapter. Recognising and valuing different interpretations of the meaning of aesthetics through the lens of art criticism is also provided. Finally, how these perspectives might influence educational planning and implementation in school contexts is shared.

Crawford Drury,Carlo Caruso,Kate Quigley Theory is presented as a way in which teachers can start to conceptualise the teaching of aesthetics as it involves an appropriate and user-friendly metalanguage for students in the classroom context.
