The management of the ambiguities in a graphical query language for geographical information systemal query language for geographical databases. We point out the various ambiguities due to the merging phase. These ambiguities mainly derive from the semantics of the operators and from the different levels of manipulation (logical or geometrical). We present the solutions we adopted in the context of the CIGALES project.

Performance comparison of segment access methods implemented on top of the buddy-tree,s methods can be judged with respect to their individual techniques. Besides the different versions of buddy-trees, the R*-tree (an improved approach of the R-tree) and the grid file participate in our experimental performance comparison.
