影响因子In June of 1996, at the idyllic seaside resort ofGuarujá, Brazil, a renowned group of researchers in space andastrophysical plasmas met to provide a forum on Advanced Topics onAstrophysical and Space Plasmas at a school consisting of some 60students and teachers, mainly from Brazil and Argentina, but also fromall the other parts of the globe. The purpose was to provide an updateon the latest theories, observations, and simulations ofspace-astrophysical plasma phenomena. .The topics covered included space plasma mechanisms for particleacceleration, nonthermal emission in cosmic plasma,magnetohydrodynamic instabilities in solar, interstellar, and othercosmic objects, magnetic field line reconnection and merging, thenonlinear and often chaotic structure of astrophysical plasmas, andthe advances in high performance supercomputing resources to replicatethe observed phenomena. The lectures were presented by Professor MarkBirkinshaw of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and theUniversity of Bristol; Dr Anthony Peratt, Los Alamos NationalLaboratory Scientific Advisor to the United States Department ofEnergy; Dr Dieter Biskamp of the Max Planck Institute for PlasmaPhysics, Garc
