Techniques for Analyzing Timing Behaviorles to yield a great variety of reaction products. When the nucleophile is an imine, β-lactams are formed in good to excellent yields and with high diastereoselectivities. The scope and limitations of this synthetically useful transformation as well as its reaction mechanism are considered herein.
