Zero Gravity Simulation as long as 32 sec and the subjects can float freely. It is expected that the X-15 aircraft, now under test, will expose the pilot to as much as 4 min of weightlessness. The first Mercury astronaut experienced 5 min of weightlessness. The first reported Russian manned flight is said to have involved about 90 min of zero gravity.

As of May 1960, about 140 research programs in weightlessness were being conducted by ARDC (WADD), while 19 outside programs were being sponsored. General Behavior of a Liquid in a Zero or Near-Zero Gravity Environmentlly bounded by free surfaces is governed exclusively by inter molecular actions, such as cohesion, adhesion and gravitational attraction. Available knowledge regarding the physics of liquids under such conditions appears to be limited largely to the statics of thin liquid films or systems of small dimensions such as bubbles or drops.
