Protein Vibrations and Conformational Changes, conformational change, which allows the protein to transport its cargo by walking on microtubules. Hemoglobin experiences a quaternary conformational change when biding to oxygen molecules. Conformational changes are also observed in transmembrane proteins when they act as ion channels, letting ions pass through the cell membrane.
