Vitamin B6: Beyond Coenzyme Functions, reactive intermediates fulfilling a very different role than that established as a cofactor for numerous enzymes. In this chapter, the structural basis of vitamin B6 activity as a potent antioxidant, metal chelator, carbonyl scavenger, and photosensitizer is presented and the physiological relevance is discussed.

It is well know now that biotin plays important roles in a variety of critical metabolic reactions in the cell, and thus, is essential for normal human health, growth and development. This is underscored by the serious clinical abnormalities that occur in conditions of biotin deficiency
