The application of vector minimisation techniques in the analysis of multiloop nonlinear feedback sore complex problems. The use of these accurate procedures in the enhancement of a computer graphical method has been discussed as a step towards their incorporation within the computer aided design suite for nonlinear systems which is currently under development on a Prime 550 computer at Salford University.

A ritz-type approach to the calculation of optimal control for nonlinear, dynamic systems,echnique for problems constrained by differential equations, an iteration formula for the parameters is derived. This approach allows the efficient solution of fairly general problems even if only small computers (like desk-top calculators, personal computers or micro/mini computers) are used.
