Multi-state Dependent Parameter Model Identification and Estimatione concepts of sequence (predecessor, successor), allowing for its use in a multi-state dependent context, so producing efficient parameterisation for a fairly wide class of non-linear, stochastic dynamic systems. The format of the estimated model allows its direct use in control system design. Two worked examples in Matlab are included.

Refined Instrumental Variable Methods for Hammerstein Box-Jenkins Modelsnuous-time and discrete-time models and is based on the refined instrumental variable method. In order to use a regression form, the Hammerstein model is reformulated as an augmented multi-input-single-output linear time invariant model. The performance of the proposed methods are exposed through relevant Monte Carlo simulation examples.

Progress and Open Questions in the Identification of Electrically Stimulated Human Muscle for Strokecal stimulation to the upper limb of stroke patients with incomplete paralysis to assist in reaching tasks. This, in turn, requires the identification of the response of a human muscle to electrical stimulation. In this chapter an overview of the progress reported in the literature is given together with some currently open research questions.
