Stochastic Analysis of Long-Span Bridges with Active Control, investigated. Both problems of single degree of freedom flutter and classical flutter are formulated. The effectiveness of the proposed active control system in suppressing the bridge response and enhancing its stability under strong wind gusts is demonstrated.

Special attention is given to the choice of types of non-Gaussian distributions. it is shown that some serious shortcomings of series approximations, particularly with respect to negative probability densities can be avoided by using generalized exponential distributions.

Fatigue of Welded Steel in Sea Water as Applicable to Offshore Structures,st program is described and results presented whereby welded specimens have been fatigued in sea water. The experimental findings are discussed with regard to existing design criteria for offshore structures and the impact of corrosion mitigating techniques which influence fatigue.

Exact Solutions for Nonlinear Systems under Parametric and External White-Noise Excitations, discussed under two schemes based on the concept of detailed balance and the concept of generalized stationary potential, respectively. It is shown that the second scheme is more general and includes the first scheme as a special case. Examples are given to illustrate their applications.
