The economics of running big ships,Since steamships were first used there has been, in most branches of shipping, a clear trend towards increase in the size of ships employed. Although marked, the trend towards increasing size in not a simple one, while the reasons for the trend and for the different way it has gone in different trades and ship types are even more complex.

The Kra Canal,and the South China Sea. In its northern end Burma and Thailand share the peninsula, Thailand at the eastern side. Then for a stretch the peninsula from coast to coast is Thai territory, before it widens out to become Malaysia. Near the northern limit of the all-Thai part of the peninsula it is relatively narrow and known as the Kra Isthmus.

Ocean freight rates and economic research,be defective unless the research workers concerned are truly impartial. This does not mean that the research can start without direction, but simply that the objective is the discovery of truth about the thesis, not the finding of facts which confirm or support the validity of a predetermined view.

The structure of commerce, costs incurred in ocean transportation will be as low as they can be within the existing structure of trade. In terms of economic jargon one would say that cost function has been minimised within the constraint of the given institutional framework.
