Thyristors,age [1]. The SCR has low voltage drop when it is on, negligible leakage when it is off, extremely fast switching speeds with low-power gate drive, and the reliability associated with all solid-state semiconductor devices. Thus, it is an excellent approximation of the ideal power switch.
