描述This book is dedicated to present different aspects of reproductive physiology and molecular endocrinology of commercially important as well as potential aquaculture fish species. The existing aquaculture generation is looking for species diversification for efficient utilization of available diverse water resources. The knowledge of reproductive physiology of fish will help in development of breeding strategy for use in commercial aquaculture. Reproductive system is highly coordinated and governed by means of complex network of nervous, endocrine system and environmental factor as well. This book emphasize on different  key aspects of reproductive endocrine system  such as basic gonadal biology in the events of climate vulnerability, sex determination, sex reversal, stimulatory hormones, inhibitory hormones and receptors, environmental and chemical factor guiding reproduction, puberty, neuroendocrine regulation of reproduction etc. This book further describes how reproduction is not just indispensable for the existence or survival of an individual, but it is important for the survival of species. Chapters also address the concerns of anthropogenic activities on fish and the aquati

Sex Hormones and Their Role in Gonad Development and Reproductive Cycle of Fishes,o phases, that is, growth and maturation phase, which is controlled by the cascade of hormones along the brain-pituitary-gonad (BPG) axis. In this axis, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and dopamine secreted from the brain regulate the gonadotropin secretion from the pituitary. The gonadotropin

Vitellogenesis and Their Endocrine Control in Fishes, sis. Follicle undergoes final maturation by resumption of meiosis. Vitellogenin (Vtg) is a homodimeric phospholipoglycoprotein, the main precursor of yolk protein, which is synthesized in the liver under the stimulation of estrogen. Vtgs released into the blood and transported to the growing oocytes

Estrogenic Regulation of Reproduction in Teleosts, ilieu is a major driver of sexual development in an organism. In teleosts, 17β-estradiol (E2) and 11-ketotestosterone (11-KT) act as natural inducers of ovarian and testicular differentiation, respectively, and alteration in the sex steroid milieu can reverse their sex. Estrogen also exerts pleiotro

Hormonal Influence on Induced Maturation and Spawning in Striped Murrel, ,t is highly nutritive, recuperative and also known for its medicinal values. Unavailability of quality seed is a major constraint in murrel farming. The collection of murrel brooders for instant induced breeding trial from earthen pond is quite difficult and fishes incur considerable amount of stres

Reproductive and Breeding Biology of Snowtrout , ratio, spawning, and fecundity of this fish. These parameters are fundamental and will help in research, stock assessment, and management of this fish species. Size at first maturity of . is 14.82 cm. The sex ratio of . male:female is 1:2.44. During spawning season the gonadosomatic index (GSI) whi
