Factorization Methods, (3.2). This chapter tries to survey the most prominent factorization methods; the material is based on [90] and [21]. We will concentrate on methods that factor squarefree integers, i.e. integers that are the product of distinct primes.

Low-Exponent RSA,Different to the theorems of the previous chapters which were “bad news” for a cryptanalyst, we present some “bad news” for the cryptographer in this chapter. All theorems show weaknesses of special instances of the RSA cryptosystem, namely systems that use either a small encryption or decryption key.
