Complex Disease,nadequate treatment regimens increase the risk of emergent macrolide resistance which carries a poor prognosis. Parenteral therapy and surgical resection are beneficial for certain forms of pulmonary and extrapulmonary disease. Prophylaxis against MAC infection is strongly recommended in HIV-AIDS.

Non-tuberculous Mycobacteria in Cystic Fibrosis,e, recognizing related imaging findings, and recovering non-tuberculous mycobacterium microbiologic specimens. Treatment is complex, prolonged, and hindered by side effects of treatment medications. In this chapter we discuss the facets on non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease unique to the cystic fibrosis patient.

Vulnerability to Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Lung Disease or Systemic Infection Due to Genetic/Herindividuals with identifiable risk factors. While acquired disorders may predispose to either isolated NTM-LD or extrapulmonary visceral/disseminated NTM disease, this review focuses on genetic/heritable causes of these two forms of NTM disease.

Management of Lung Diseases Associated with NTM Infection,improved by addressing coexisting lung disease and other complicating factors that contribute to morbidity and possibly mortality. A multimodality therapeutic approach and a collaborative approach between treating clinicians can maximize therapeutic benefit to the individual patient.
