Estimation of Structural Reliability of Nonlinear Systems under Seismic Action,ical simulation into the area of small probabilities is considered. The properties of “tails” of distributions for essentially nonlinear systems are demonstrated with numerical examples, and approaches to facilitate the engineering solution of the “tails” problem are discussed.

Robust Numerical Solution of the Transient Fokker-Planck Equation for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems,nlinearity in both stiffness and damping as well as both additive and multiplicative excitation, although only the former is considered herein. Several systems are examined, including linear, Duffing, and Van der Pol oscillators, to illustrate the robustness and accuracy of the finite element method.

Statistical Linearization and Large Excitation of Nonlinear Stochastic Mechanical Systems,etween simulation and statistical linearization results is very good. The response of a single-degree-of-freedom spring-mass system with viscous and Coulomb friction with colored noise excitation using the technique of statistical linearization is also discussed. Further a good agreement between the simulation and analytical results is observed.
