Changing Ideas about Social Ties,out changing social ties by considering the roots of modern social thought that explained a shift from community to individual values. It looks at the tensions that emerged between views of society and the self: ideas that distinguished between a benevolent, utopian ‘community’ and a suspect, self-interested ‘individuality’.
