Introduction, insight of Giovanelli in 1939 to the in situ near-Earth measurements of the Magnetospheric MultiScale MMS mission. Then, the specific topic of the Thesis is introduced together with the motivations for the need to study magnetic reconnection and specifically the Electron Diffusion Region.

In Situ Spacecraft Observations of a Structured Electron Diffusion Region During Magnetopause Reconted in Cozzani et al. (.) and I include analysis that could not be fully detailed in the published manuscript, namely (i) the detailed determination of the local current sheet coordinate system, (ii) the application of the FOTE method (see Sect. .) on the selected data.
