Gestalt: Fritz Perls the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy and the Cleveland Institute for Gestalt Psychotherapy. In California he became resident associate psychiatrist at the Esalen institute at Big Sur. In 1969 he moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he established a Gestalt community. He died in 1970 after a brief illness.

He began working on group therapy during the 1950s, and underwent training analysis with Erik Erikson. He continued his writing and private practice until his death in 1970.
