Directions in L2 Writing Assessment assessment. It outlines how assessments can be sites of conflict between social groups and how the work of assessment developers is shaped by the needs of the institutions that use assessment results. Based on issues of construct definition, assessment design, and the evaluation of performance, some future directions for research are proposed.
