描述Many drugs used in current anesthetic practice are administeredintravenously. An appreciation of their kinetics and dynamics is ofgreat assistance in determining the most appropriate drug to use, andoptimal dosage regimens for any given patient. .This book is specially oriented to the requirements ofanesthesiologists. It will enable the student of those subjects togain enough knowledge to make these subjects usable in dailyanesthetic practice. As such it is intermediate in difficulty betweenmathematically oriented texts, and those which only offer a veryqualitative understanding of these subjects. Practical applicationsand examples of the uses to which kinetic and dynamic principles canbe put in daily practice are emphasized and illustrated. Basicprinciples and techniques with which the reader can perform kineticand dynamic calculations are explained simply and demonstrated indetail using examples derived from clinical practice. Two appendicesprovide kinetic and dynamic data on the most commonly used anestheticdrugs. .The last chapters use the principles discussed in the first chaptersto show how variations of normal physiology and disease affect drugkinetics and dynamics. Multicompartment Kinetic Models,two important reasons. The data required are readily derived from measurements of blood drug concentrations. Secondly, multicompartment models are not as mathematically complex, and yet yield predictions which are as accurate as those made by physiological models.
