An Experimental Study of the Effect of Presence in Collaborative Virtual Environments,e avatar style used to represent them. A prototype virtual art gallery was created as a vehicle for conducting a series of online experiments designed to measure and compare the effects of different forms of avatar on presence. The choice of experimental procedure, together with analysis and interpretation of the results, are presented.
