This session will provide a unique opportunity for the academic and industrial communities to address new challenges, share solutions, and discuss research directions for the future. Robotics research emphasizes intelligence and adaptability to cope with unstructured environments. Automation research emphasizes efficiency, productivity, quality, and reliability, focusing on systems that operate autonomously. The main focus of this session is on the autonomous acquisition of semantic information in intelligent robots and systems, as well as the use of semantic knowledge to guide further acquisition of information.

Research Survey of Technique about Wire-Driven Parallel Suspension Systems Used in Forced Oscillatioh as possible. The coupled fluid-solid interaction between the wires and the streamline flow should be tackled well and the suitable 6-element force-measuring system to measure the force and moment of the streamline flow should be used.

Multiresolution Based Segmentation for Nonideal Iris with Nonlinear Diffusionideal iris with nonlinear diffusion. Our proposal includes two stages: interior boundary and exterior boundary detection. In process of exterior boundary localization, a simplified region-based curve evolution is invented to search weak boundary. Experiments reveal validity of our proposal and a high correct ratio is obtained.

Design of a Mobile Robotic Arm for People with Severe Disabilitiesp computer’s briefcase. Its weight is only 5 kg, including two 12-V lead acid rechargeable batteries. A drinking tea task was experimentally performed by a person with muscular dystrophy. An eating task was also conducted by two able-bodied subjects. The experimental results showed that they could carry out drinking and eating tasks.

An Emergency Call Device for Wheelchair Users with Severe Disabilitiesicrocontroller, circuit which is sending an emergency e-mail, and mobile phone. To verify the performance, three able-bodied subjects participated in the experiment. From experimental results, it was clear that the system could detect whether the subject’s hand was touched the control lever or not.
