False Alarm in Satellite Precipitation Data,me convective storms over the US. Using Volumetric False Alarm Ratio, AghaKouchak et al. (2011) showed that several satellite products exhibit high false alarm rate for rainfall, especially at high quantiles of observation.

Integration of CloudSat Precipitation Profile in Reduction of False Rain,presence of hydrometeors near the surface confirms the occurrence of rain. In this chapter, the CloudSat precipitation occurrence is used as a reliable source for rain detection. After explaining the methodology and data sources, the model training and results are presented.
