图书封面Titlebook: IGFs in the Nervous System; Eugenio E. Müller Book 1998 Springer-Verlag Italia, Milano 1998 G proteins.IFS-BPs.brain.differentiation.gluco
描述In the last few years, considerable attention has been paid to the presence of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and their binding proteins (IGF-BPs) in the brain and peripheral neuronal tissue. IGFs are synthesized within the CNS, are bound to specific IGF-BPs and act on specific receptors. They represent a new class of growth factors and messengers in the brain and the periphery. Written by a group of outstanding experts in the field, the book provides an invaluable forum where important aspects of the production, regulation, biological actions, pathophysiological involvement, therapeutic applications for IGFs in many neurologic and neuromuscular disorders are addressed and critically evaluated.

Expression of IGF-I and IGF-I Receptor mRNA in Sural Nerves of Diabetic Patients, pression is considerable in the developing nervous system [2], have neurotrophic actions in motor [3], sensory [3] and sympathetic neurons [3–4]. Since these neural populations result to be damaged in diabetic neuropathy, it has been proposed that a loss of IGFs may be involved in the pathogenesis of this common complication of diabetes.

The Potential of IGF-I as a Neuronal Rescue Agent,a and cell lysis. Programmed cell death (apoptosis) is the most important factor contributing to delayed cell death although the cytotoxic consequences of microglial activation and glutamate toxicity associated with postasphyxiai seizures also play a role.
