Colloid science in oil and gas production and transportation, solids deposition (asphaltenes, wax, and gas hydrate) and fluid flow in porous media. Finally, the challenges of studying in the laboratory the physical and chemical colloidal phenomena underlying field problems are considered, and a typical porous media flow apparatus illustrated.

Recovery of surfactant from micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration using a precipitation process,higher Krafft point than SDS (35 °C). An MEUF experiment using KDS as the model surfactant gave large rejection of .-butylphenol (96%). Based on these findings, KDS is proposed as a potential surfactant for use in MEUF, with recovery of the surfactant to be accomplished by lowering the system temperature below the Krafft point.

The influence of ethylene glycol on the phase behavior of aqueous microemulsions in quaternary systol or water + ethylene glycol mixtures corresponds to C.E. in aqueous systems..In the ternary and quaternary systems we found one-, two- and three-phase regions. However, in the waterless ethylene glycol/.-dodecane/C.E. system only one- and two-phase regions appeared, but we have not observed the three-phase region.

Adsorption of poly (diallyl-dimethyl-ammoniumchloride) (PDADMAC) and of copolymers of DADMAC with N At low salt concentrations the adsorbed amounts rise with decreasing charge density of the polyelectrolyte. During polyelectrolyte adsorption the surface charge density of colloidal silica is increased because of the dissociation of silanol groups.

Vapor pressures of phenethyl alcohol and phenethyl acetate in aqueous solutions of sodium xylene suions in a certain hydrotope concentration range. The polymer hydrotope association structure resulted in a reduction of fragrance vapor pressure due to solubilization of the fragrance into the association structure.
