Fundamental of Shock Waves and Shock Tube,s. This chapter outlines the capabilities of the shock tube in generating shock waves and blast waves along with instrumentation and techniques involved in its operation. Finally, experiments carried out in various shock tubes and the methodology adopted to generate shock wave and blast wave profile from the shock tube are presented.

Granular Material Responses to Air-Blast Wave Loading,and medium and its direct consequences on the vibrational response. An empirical equation has been developed for loose and dense sand, to predict peak particle velocity (PPV) against scaled blast distance. Also, digital image correlation (DIC) analysis results are presented for estimating displacement and strain contours during air-blast loading.
