Pyruvate Kinase Deficiencygenome region of pyruvate kinase gene. Co-distribution of malaria and pyruvate kinase deficiency has been reported in malaria endemic regions. High incidence of pyruvate kinase deficiency appears to maintain in malaria endemic regions as a protective mechanism against malaria.
