A few additional adults were collected from 1915–1929, some of which (14) are in the National Museum of Sri Lanka (Colombo), others in the BMNH, and two in the Berlin Museum (Enderlein 1921).

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-91938-1l shelf extends for a distance which varies from 9–45 km at an average depth of 36 fathoms. The shelf is narrow around the southern part of the island but widens out to the north and merges with the Indian Continental Shelf (Cooray 1967).

Freshwater invertebrates: some comments, faunal composition which have been noted previously are repeated here. I think it is apt to make a few comments on the historical aspects of the study of the freshwater fauna of Sri Lanka because some of the earlier work has an important bearing on subsequent, present and future work in the field in Sri Lanka and elsewhere too.

Muskeln und Nerven am Kopf und Rumpf,tside the terms of reference of this account. With the exception of the euryhaline brackish water species . (Neale 1979c), which belongs in the Paracypridinae, all the ostracods in this account are inhabitants of freshwater and found in lakes, tanks, ponds, ditches, reservoirs and rice fields.
