Jute, but rough to touch. Unlike cotton, jute is a multicellular and multiconstitutent fibre. Apart from a cellulose (≃60%) the other two major constituents are hemicellulose (≃23%) and lignin (≃14%). Due to its biodegradibility and annual renewability, jute fibre has diversified commercial and household applications (Table 1).
