,“Living” Coordination Polymerization of Propylene and its Application to Block Copolymer Synthesis, anion was examined at 50°C and shown to result in the quantitative formation of monodisperse AB block copolymer of propylene and styrene. In addition, sequential polymerization of ethylene and propylene was attempted in the presence of the soluble V (acac)./Al (C.H.).Cl system to synthesize block copolymers.

The rate of epoxidation and of subsequent polymerization depended on the length of the spacer length of methylene groups. The rates were low when the spacer length was 0 or 1 and reached a constant value when the spacer group had more than 3 methylene groups.
