We discuss a surprising result about how this class of models handles episodic (“snap-shot”) memory — namely, that they seem to be able to handle both episodic and abstract memory — and discuss two other promising areas of research involving these models.

High Speed Turbo-like Decoders,as. Turing’s unorganized machines are analyzed and new types of machines are proposed by the authors. An example of a pattern classification task is presented using a Turing net and genetic algorithms for building and training the networks.

Towards a Spatio-Temporal Analysis Tool for fMRI Data: An Application to Depth-from-Motion Processinal blood flow. They are usually based on univariate statistical techniques [3], however, since cognitive functions result from interactions, a number of new concepts and multivariate tools have recently been developed [5, 7, 12]. A different approach is to perform Input Variable Selection (IVS), a t

A Simple Model Exhibiting Scalar Timing when the data is scaled by the time interval. This is called the scalar property of interval timing. Here a simple model of a neural clock is presented and shown to give rise to the scalar property. The model is an accumulator consisting of noisy, linear spiking neurons. It is analytically tractabl

Modularity and Specialized Learning in the Organization of Behaviourion and learning. However, the types and levels of psychological modelling possible in artificial neural systems is limited by the current state of the technology. This chapter discusses modularity as illuminated from research in ., such as autonomous robots or virtual reality characters. We describ

Modeling Modulatory Aspects in Association Processes neurons may function as modulators in the activity of those systems [9]. It is also believed that association learning is very important in the control of motivational and emotional behaviours [8]. Furthermore, it has been suggested that neurons involved in homeostatic regulation mechanisms (evolut
