Test Metrics and Problem-Solving, to facilitate improvement. The Goal, Question, Metrics (GQM) approach is discussed, and this allows metrics related to the organization goals to be defined. Test Process Improvement, as the TMM or TMap that contain best practice in software testing to mature the testing process. The test manager also conducts a lessons learned review with the test team at the end of a project, and the goal is to learn any lessons from the testing to determine what went well and what needs to be improved for the next project.

It is essential to employ rigorous processes in their design and development, and software testing alone is usually insufficient in verifying the correctness of such systems.

Configuration Management,provides full traceability of the changes made during the project including a record of what has been changed, as well as who changed it. It involves identifying the configuration items of the system; controlling changes to them; and maintaining integrity and traceability.
