Limits On Image Representation In Early Visiongically plausible RFs are produced which are distributed in a manner similar to the functional architecture of the visual cortex. For a given level of synaptic use, this localized set of RFs is just as efficient for image representation as the spatially extensive set.

The neuronal models constructed from this approach illustrate the effects of dendritic structure as well as ionic conductances on the way in which synaptic inputs are integrated. In principle the neuronal model provides a generalized description of the entire neuron that can predict all possible synaptic events.

String Processing and Information Retrievaltions to the receptive field, we constructed a compartmental model of the primate foveal outer plexiform layer based on the known anatomy and physiology. The similarity between the computed cone receptive field and the measured midget cell receptive field suggest that much of the retina’s spatial filtering occurs at the very first synapse.
