The Modern Role of Visual Observations of Cometsored for the benefit of both investigators who might have to use them and observers who wish to make real contributions to the field. We consider the characteristics of the eye-brain combination as a detector and compare them with those of modern detectors. We specifically evaluate visual discoveries, magnitude estimates, and drawings.

Recent Laboratory Photochemical Studies and Their Relationship to the Photochemical Formation of ComExperimental laboratory techniques used in studying the photochemistry of stable and unstable molecules are discussed. The laboratory evidence for the photochemical formation of C. from C.H, C. from C.H., and NH from NH. is presented. Other recent results obtained in laboratory studies of H.O, H.S, NH., and HCN are reported.
