Semigroups, Algebras and Operator Theoryar bond and lowers the barrier to dissociation. This explanation has been very succesful, because it also predicts the occurrence of ., (the absorption of additional photons during the dissociation process leading to more energetic fragments) that was indeed observed in the same experiment.
